January - Friends of Adoption

This was my first month sending and receiving a gift with my adoption friend, Gen!  What a lovely idea the friends of adoption is; you can read more about here:  friends of adoption.  Gen sent me an amazing gift of fresh bath salts, relaxing soap and lip butter from the Rocky Mountain soap company, a little shop in the town Canmore, Alberta Canada, where she is from.  In the picture of the gift please notice the mountains on the card Gen sent, they are the mountains in her town!  So beautiful.  Gen, you should know I am already addicted to the lip butter.  Please go to Gen - Cinnamon Baby blog to see what I sent her and also read and follow her. Since the shipping cost alot since we are both shipping out of country Gen and I have discussed some months we will simply send a card, but now I might be rethinking that with the great gift I received.  hehe  So cleaver, I need to find something local to VA Beach for next month!  Thanks again Gen!

Little Song for Everyone's Day!

So, I was inspired by another blogger sharing some "adoption related" music and I found this song truly fits me right now!  Read the lyrics while singing and dancing please!  Also, below I thought I would share a picture of our amazing family.

A Long Over Due Post

Prepare yourself; this is going to be a long post! As promised, to myself, I took the holiday season off from mostly all adoption business, so I really do not have too much on that front to update you with, however I would like to share what has been happening the last month or so with me.

Fundraiser – went ok. I did not realize how many questions people would have with it being an online raffle. I get alittle crazy with change, but people need to realize that just because one group does something one way does not make it the right way and maybe opening your eyes to news things is good. Listen when someone explains something and there will not be constant confusion! Thanks again to everyone, who bought raffles and supported us. I am happy to say the ipad has finally been delivered! Sorry again to the winner who was really patient when I forgot it on my trip home to Philly.

Thanksgiving – great family weekend! Thanksgiving was up the mountains with just Rob, myself and parents. We ate and did alittle Black Friday shopping and was able to get the motorized car for my niece that we wanted. I was so happy, because without the black Friday deal we would not have been able to buy it for her. The line was rough and Rob was asked to leave Walmart, but with help from my mom we got it and seeing her face on Christmas made it all worth it. That Saturday, Rob’s sister and her family came over to meet my family. We were a bit nervous, but even with 5 kids all under 6 running around. It was a good time. Everyone got along great and I love that all the kids are getting to know each other. My niece Carter calls my sister in law’s kids her friend cousins. So funny. We took tons of family pictures for our book. I can’t believe both the adults and kids behaved for that half hour of nothing but different posses.

Christmas – I was lucky enough to spend 11 days with my family. Christmas Eve was hosted by my brother and his wife for the second time; it was wonderful. Everyone had such a good time. Both our family and my sis in laws family was there. It is nice to see them and catch up every so often. As usual the bottles were flowing, the laughs were roaring and the memories were made! It was also nice to stop at Rob’s sister’s house in the afternoon too. We took Carter with us to see her friend cousins! I love that she says that! Carter is in love with their middle son, Erik. He is such a little ladies man and I would steal him in a second. Christmas day we went back up my brothers and to Robs sisters to see what santa brought everyone then heading back to my mom’s for napping and watching the “Christmas Story” on TBS. The week after Christmas, Rob had to head home for work and I headed to our family mountain house with my dad, brother, SIL and girls. The ride up was nice to get to spend an hour with just me and dad talking. We don’t really have great convo’s often, because we are so similar it is hard to get our points across without making each other mad or upset, but this ride was great. I explained a few things about the adoption to him and caught him up on school and work. This week did teach me a lot though about kids. I mean I have always been good with kids and went to school to teach early Ed., but wow there is a lot about one year olds that I do not know. Things you do not really think about like foods they are not allowed to eat yet and why they are crying. I also had to give Carter (2 ½ yr old) a time out. Man oh man did that break my heart. Those two little girls are so smart. I cannot believe it sometimes. Carter is so cleaver she gets herself in trouble and already knows how to outsmart you. Needless to say, I went and bought myself a book called the Toddler Years to read and catch up on these tricky little creatures!

New Years! Hooray for 2012! By the end of this year I hope to know if we are getting blessed with a little boy or girl or both or 2 boys or 2 girls or whoever god has picked out for us! Rob came back up to Philly and we spent New Years at my parents. It was amazing to be able to watch the Mummers Parade! I still cannot believe they do not air that parade nationally. We had the girls, so we did not go out, but with the tiring week we all had and just being able to see parade on TV we did not care.

Rob and I came home on the 2nd and brought my childhood furniture with us. We are still undecided if we will paint it or not, but it is nice to have in our second bedroom. They just do not make solid wood pieces like this anymore. They need a good cleaning and new handles, but otherwise they are in great shape. I must say as much as I miss my family living in VA now, I was happy to be home again and get back to our lives. I just wish the ride was only 3 hrs not 6 hrs.

This month, Rob and I are getting the house ready for our home visit. Doing some last minute things like buying a new couch, thanks to the awesome envelope my folks gave us as a Christmas gift! I stilled have not set the appointment up for our social worker to come out. I think it is because I am getting more nervous. I know after this visit she will gather together all the home study docs then was once approved it goes to Poland at which time we are truly put on the waiting list! Knowing this is making me question myself more. Not if adopting is right or anything like that, but more omg I have thought I was ready to be a mom for the last 13 yrs, but am I really????? I guess all soon to be parents go through this and I will get passed it and make my calls and more us forward. We have gone through so much to get to this point; I cant be my own road block now.

Oh oh, I also finally got matched with the Friends of adoption. We have emailed a few times and Gen seems amazing! I just got my gift today and will post that blog as soon as I know Gen got hers. Of course I forgot about the delay in shipping to Canada, so I think Gen is getting her gift a few days late.

In this new year, I wish each of you to receive as many blessings as you can each handle! I hope everyone gets closer to their dreams, whatever they may be……………Smooches!

LEWY PRAWY LEWY PRAWY

That's right I said it...left right left right! This was Rob's favorite thing to say to Babcia every night when we would both have to help her up the stairs to put her to bed. She would laugh the whole way up the stairs helping her forget they we were moving her legs for her when they stopped working as well. Boy oh boy I miss that lady! I was always close to her growing up then when the dementia started to set in and neither of my moms siblings were willing to admit to themselves what was taking place. Rob and I were the only ones who helped my mom. I quit my job and Rob gained an hour and a half drive to work, so we could move in with babcia and help her. That year was amazing minus what children my aunt and uncle became. Babcia is one of the most wonderful people I ever met. Yes she is a bit crazy and yes she would do some tricky stuff and blame it on old age, but she is the one and only BABCIA! Anyhow, babcia is now up the mountains in PA finally living on one level with my aunt and uncle where she belongs. The bad of this is that I do not get to see her with living in VA now. I live by silly memories of lewy prawy now! Rob brought up the lewy prawy thing tonight to make me and I instantly felt the need to share it with all of you!
